Terms of service
Last updated 19 October 2026
These terms apply between Kartia IKE and the organisation that subscribes to SafeMode (the customer). Where a signed order form or agreement says otherwise, it governs. The public self-assessment is free, and sections 2, 5, 9 and 10 apply to its use.
1. The service
SafeMode is a software service for cybersecurity and compliance: an asset register and compliance mapping, telemetry ingestion, detection rules and a statistical detector, incident management with computed reporting deadlines and report drafts, threat intelligence and response playbooks, as the documentation of the version provided describes them.
2. What the service is not
SafeMode computes dates and drafts reports; it files nothing with an authority. Deciding whether an incident is significant, what to report and when, and submitting it, are the customer's.
The self-assessment, the compliance mapping and the article references are analysis of the customer's own answers and records. They are not legal advice or compliance guidance, and using SafeMode does not establish regulatory compliance. Use of the service does not create a professional or advisory relationship. The official published text prevails over the references the platform shows, and a computed deadline rests on the times the customer records.
SafeMode reads telemetry and sends no command to a spacecraft or a ground segment. An alert names candidate techniques and asserts no attack, and no detector finds every incident.
3. Accounts and access
The customer decides who has an account and which role each holds, and is responsible for what is done under its accounts. Each person keeps their password and second factor to themselves and tells the customer's administrator of any misuse they suspect.
4. The customer's data
The customer's data remains the customer's. Kartia IKE uses it only to provide and secure the service, under the data processing agreement that forms part of these terms, and never to train a model or for advertising.
The customer can export its records at any time, as the platform's exports allow. When the agreement ends, Kartia IKE deletes the customer's data, its audit trail included, within 30 days unless the agreement or the law sets another period.
5. Acceptable use
The customer and its users do not attack or overload the service, reach another organisation's data, probe it beyond the security page's rules, send data they have no right to send, or use the service against the law.
6. Third-party material
The service carries material from others under their own terms: SPARTA, The Aerospace Corporation's framework; the SafeMode Reference corpus and text of ENISA, each under CC BY 4.0; and published advisories and exploited-vulnerability lists. Kartia IKE does not warrant that material.
SafeMode maps frameworks, catalogues and legal texts published by other organisations. Their names and marks are used only for identification and attribution. SafeMode is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or reviewed by The Aerospace Corporation (SPARTA), ENISA, OASIS (STIX), CCSDS, CISA, OSV or any EU institution. Identifiers are reproduced with attribution; the authoritative versions remain with their publishers.
7. Fees
Fees, the billing period and the terms of payment are those of the customer's order form. Unless it says otherwise, fees are stated before VAT.
8. Changes to the service
Kartia IKE develops the service and may change it. A change that removes a part the customer relies on is announced to the customer's administrators at least 30 days ahead.
9. Warranty
Kartia IKE provides the service with reasonable skill and care, as described in its documentation. Beyond that and what the law makes binding, the service is provided without warranties regarding accuracy, completeness, currency or fitness for a particular purpose.
10. Liability
Where permitted by law, neither party is liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit. Each party's total liability under these terms is limited to the fees the customer paid in the twelve months before the event. Neither limit applies to wilful misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or anything else the law does not allow to be limited.
11. Confidentiality
Each party keeps the other's non-public information confidential and uses it only for the agreement, during it and for three years after it.
12. Term and termination
The agreement runs for the period of the order form. Either party may end it on written notice if the other materially breaches these terms and does not remedy the breach within 30 days of being told of it.
13. Law and courts
These terms and this site are governed by Greek law; the courts of Athens have exclusive jurisdiction.
14. Changes to these terms
A new version of these terms is published here with its date and mailed to each customer's administrators 30 days before it takes effect. It applies from the next renewal unless the customer agrees to it sooner.
